RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Apr, 2026) A meeting organized by the World Peace Jarga Programme on Tuesday reaffirmed commitment to national and global peace and proposed nomination of Field Marshal Asim Munir for the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of his services.
The meeting, held at Rawalpindi Press Club, was attended by Chairman Raetullah Khan (Khan Baba), Women Peace Jarga Programme Chairperson Sadia Khan, Adnan Khan Shinwari and other office-bearers and members.
Talking to media, the organisers highlighted ongoing efforts to promote peace, harmony and conflict resolution through traditional jirga mechanisms across different regions.
They said the organization had been working for years to encourage dialogue and reconciliation, yielding positive outcomes in various areas.
The speakers paid tribute to Field Marshal Asim Munir for his role in promoting peace and stability at national and regional levels and said his contributions deserved global recognition.
They highlighted that his services for peace and regional stability merited consideration for the Nobel Peace Prize.
During the event, Adnan Khan Shinwari also took oath as President of the World Peace Jirga Programme Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The leadership congratulated him and expressed hope he would play an effective role in promoting peace in the province.
The organization also announced its upcoming international engagements, under which delegations would visit the United Arab Emirates (Dubai), Qatar, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom and the United States during from June to August this year.
"The visits would include meetings with overseas Pakistanis and international partners, alongside donor conferences aimed at mobilizing support for peace, development and welfare initiatives in Pakistan", they said.
The speakers said the organization’s core mission was to promote peace, unity and national cohesion, adding that it would continue to support national institutions for ensuring stability and prosperity.
They also appreciated the contributions of Raetullah Khan, citing his family’s continued efforts for peace and education.
The jarga leadership reaffirmed its resolve to continue working for peace, dialogue and cooperation in Pakistan and beyond.
