PESCO cracks down on power theft, recovers Rs 18 m in April

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Apr, 2026) Acting on the directives of Superintending Engineer PESCO Dera Circle, Engineer Hizbullah Khan Mehsud, a comprehensive crackdown was carried out against electricity theft and outstanding dues across the Mandhran Sub-Division during April 2026.

The operation was supervised by XEN PESCO Rural Division Engineer Muaz Ahmed, while SDO Mandhran Sub-Division Engineer Irfanullah Khan led field teams in various localities.

During the campaign, actions were taken against 24 electricity thieves, and formal requests were sent to Cantt and Shorkot police stations for the registration of cases.

So far, 20 cases have been officially registered.

The PESCO teams also conducted an extensive recovery drive. As a result, outstanding dues amounting to Rs 18 million were recovered during the month.

In addition, electricity connections from 11 transformers were disconnected due to non-payment and illegal usage during the operations.

Speaking on the occasion, SDO Engineer Irfanullah Khan stated that the campaign against power theft and defaulters would be continued without interruption, adding that strict legal action would be taken against those involved in illegal connections.
