PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st May, 2026) In the light of the special directives issued by Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Shahab Ali Shah, comprehensive arrangements for Eid-ul-Azha have been initiated across Peshawar Division on Thursday to ensure cleanliness, security, public health and uninterrupted civic facilities during the festive period.
On the special instructions of Commissioner Peshawar Division, Riaz Khan Mehsud, a high-level review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Peshawar, Captain (Retd.) Sanaullah. The meeting was attended via video link by Deputy Commissioners of all five districts of Peshawar Division, District Health Officers (DHOs), District Police Officers (DPOs), Chief Executive Officer of WSSP, officials of Tehsil Municipal Administrations (TMAs) and heads of other relevant departments.
The meeting reviewed in detail public influx management, rush at tourist destinations, cattle market arrangements, sanitation measures, law and order and traffic management plans during Eid-ul-Adha.
Deputy Commissioner Peshawar Captain (Retd.) Sanaullah directed all administrative and law enforcement agencies to remain fully alert and ensure foolproof arrangements in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Chief Secretary’s Office.
All administrative officers have been directed not to leave their duty stations during Eid holidays without prior approval from the competent authority. Alternate officers and clear Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) will remain in place to ensure uninterrupted administrative operations. Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners of merged and tourist districts were instructed to intensify monitoring due to the expected influx of tourists and increased operational sensitivity.
It was decided that district administrations and TMAs would permit only approved and notified cattle markets and sale points. Strict legal action will be taken against illegal animal sale points established on roadsides, in residential areas, under bridges or at un-designated locations.
The authorities were directed to ensure proper layouts, entry and exit routes, parking facilities, signage, crowd management systems, shaded areas, clean drinking water, lighting arrangements yand complaint help desks at cattle markets.
The Livestock Department will ensure vaccination of sacrificial animals and mandatory spraying against ticks and infectious diseases. Veterinary staff and mobile teams will remain present at markets to identify sick animals and raise awareness regarding zoonotic diseases. For Special Eid Water and Sanitation program, Sanitation Services Companies (WSSCs) and TMAs have been directed to implement comprehensive sanitation plans for Eid-ul-Adzha. Special focus will be placed on the timely collection, safe transportation and hygienic disposal of animal waste, offal, hides, and other refuse. A pre-Eid cleanliness campaign will also be launched in markets, Eidgahs, graveyards, cattle markets and other public places. Temporary encroachments around Eidgahs and markets will be removed, while alternate parking arrangements will also be ensured.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>For the price control and transport fare monitoring, transport authorities and traffic police will launch strict crackdowns against overcharging and illegal fare increases before and during Eid holidays, the meeting decided.
4It decided that the district administrations and price control magistrates would continuously monitor markets to ensure the display of official price lists. Strict action will be taken against profiteering, hoarding and underweight selling. Joint inspections of bakeries, hotels and sweet shops will also be conducted with the KP Food Safety Authority.
The meeting decided that the district administrations in tourist areas were directed to maintain close coordination with relevant departments to ensure uninterrupted supply of petroleum products, LPG, food items and clean drinking water.
Police will remain on high alert during Chand Raat and Eid days, especially at markets, tourist destinations and Eid congregations. Strict legal action will be taken against one-wheeling, over speeding, aerial firing and riding motorcycles without helmets. Lady police constables will be deployed in markets and commercial centers to facilitate women and prevent harassment incidents. Tourism police and defense volunteers will assist in maintaining smooth traffic flow at tourist destinations. The Communication & Works Department and National Highway Authority (NHA) will ensure the availability of heavy machinery and emergency staff to tackle landslides or road blockages on highways and tourist routes.
Section 144 on rivers and health emergency measures strict SOPs will be enforced at rivers, lakes and dams for public safety. Boating without life jackets and overloading of boats will be strictly prohibited. Section 144 will be imposed to ban bathing in dangerous streams, nullahs, and areas with strong currents.
Fitness certification of amusement parks and rides will also be ensured before Eid, the meeting decided.
As per decision of the meeting, the Rescue 1122 will remain on high alert at cattle markets, highways, and tourist spots. Help desks will be established at important locations for missing children and stranded families.
The Health Department was directed to keep all emergency health facilities operational round the clock during Eid holidays. Duty staff, minor operation theatres, X-ray services, pharmacies, trauma centers and ambulance services will remain fully functional.
The Deputy Commissioner Peshawar directed all Deputy Commissioners to establish 24/7 control rooms in their respective districts and widely publicize contact numbers through local and social media platforms. Citizens will be able to report complaints related to overpricing, sanitation, traffic congestion or other civic issues.
He emphasized that negligence would not be tolerated and directed all departments to work in close coordination to ensure peaceful, clean and well-organized Eid-ul-Azha celebrations across the division.
