PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Jul, 2026) Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Peshawar, Dr Mian Saeed Ahmed, on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting at Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines to review security arrangements for the upcoming Chehlum of Imam Hussain (AS) and to strengthen inter-sect harmony and coordination.
The meeting was attended by SSP Operations Peshawar Farhan Khan, SP Headquarters Ali Gohar Khan, SP Security Sajjad Hussain, SP Cantt Muhammad Junaid Kharl, SP City Shahid Adnan, and a delegation of the Imamia Jirga led by its head, Sardar Aqeel Hussain Zahid.
Participants discussed in detail the overall law and order situation, security arrangements for Chehlum processions and religious gatherings, procession routes, coordination among stakeholders, and measures to promote inter-sect harmony.
The participants also agreed to further strengthen and refine the security plan in light of recommendations put forward by the Imamia Jirga delegation.
Speaking on the occasion, CCPO Dr Mian Saeed Ahmed thanked the Imamia Jirga, Shia scholars and community leaders for their exemplary cooperation, responsible conduct and constructive role in maintaining peace during Muharram.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>He said that safeguarding the lives and property of citizens and ensuring the peaceful observance of all religious events remained the top priority of Peshawar Police.
He added that security audits of all sensitive locations, procession routes and venues of religious gatherings had been completed and final security arrangements were now in place.
The CCPO said that, as in previous years, a foolproof security plan had been devised for the Chehlum of Imam Hussain (AS). Under the plan, the Safe City Project, CCTV cameras, drone technology, anti-drone systems, camera surveillance and other modern security tools would remain fully operational to ensure effective monitoring of sensitive locations, processions, religious gatherings and the city as a whole.
He emphasised that religious scholars, community leaders and members of all schools of thought had always played a valuable role in maintaining peace, adding that unity, tolerance, harmony and mutual cooperation were the key to ensuring lasting peace during Chehlum and all other religious occasions.
