LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th May, 2026) A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Punjab Employees Social Security Institution (PESSI) and the Health Services Academy (HSA) for establishment of Punjab Social Security Nursing College and a modern Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Management Centre at Nawaz Sharif Social Security Hospital, here on Wednesday.
The signing ceremony was attended by Provincial Minister for Labour and Human Resources Muhammad Manshaullah Butt as chief guest, while Social Security Commissioner Zulfiqar Ali Kharral and Vice Chancellor Health Services Academy Dr Shahzad Ali Khan were also present.
Under the agreement, the two institutions will collaborate for academic partnership and the establishment of the nursing college along with the OSH Management Centre aimed at improving training, research and healthcare services.
Talking on the occasion, Provincial Minister Muhammad Manshaullah Butt said that on the direction of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, effective measures were being taken for the health and safety of workers.
He said institutional collaboration for workers’ welfare was a positive step, adding that healthy and safe workers would contribute to industrial growth and increased productivity. He said the establishment of the nursing college would help overcome the shortage of trained nursing and allied health professionals, while the OSH Management Centre would promote modern training, research and advanced medical facilities. He added that a modern system was being introduced to ensure a safe working environment for workers.
PESSI Commissioner Zulfiqar Ali Kharral said that modern nursing training would improve the standard of healthcare services at national and international levels. He said the OSH Management Centre would enable timely diagnosis of diseases among workers and help monitor disease patterns and spread in industrial areas.
