Diesel is now available at Rs520.35 per litre amid global oil crisis due to US-backed Israel war on Iran

ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-April 2nd, 2026) The petrol price on Thursday reached Rs458.40 per litre in Pakistan.

The diesel now will be available at Rs520.35 per litre in Pakistan.

The Federal government announced a sharp increase in petroleum prices, citing a surge in global energy costs driven by ongoing US-backed Israeli war on Iran.

Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik, addressing a joint press conference with the finance minister, said the price of petrol has been increased to Rs458.40 per litre, while diesel will now be available at Rs520.35 per litre.

He said the rise in fuel prices was unavoidable due to a significant increase in international crude oil prices, adding that the ongoing conflict in the region has disrupted energy markets and triggered volatility.

The minister said the government had taken a difficult but necessary decision in view of the prevailing economic situation. He added that efforts were being made to manage the impact through austerity measures introduced by the prime minister, including salary reductions for cabinet members.

Ali Pervaiz Malik also acknowledged the support of the president, chief ministers, and allied political parties during the challenging period.

He emphasized the need for national unity, stating that collective efforts are essential to steer the country through the current economic pressures.
