PFA cracks down on adulterated milk, destroys 1,000 liters

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th May, 2026) The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has intensified its crackdown on substandard and adulterated milk here, destroying a large quantity of unsafe milk and imposing fines on violators.

According to a PFA spokesperson, inspection teams carried out surprise checks on milk shops and supply vehicles in areas including Murree Road, Dhok Babu and Nawaz Sharif Park.

During the operation, around 1,000 liters of water-adulterated milk, deemed hazardous to health, were destroyed on the spot. Fines amounting to Rs 85,000 were imposed on several shopkeepers and suppliers for distributing substandard milk.

He said routine inspections of milk trucks and outlets were continuing to ensure the availability of safe and quality food.

On-site testing using modern equipment was being conducted to detect adulteration promptly.

The spokesperson said a zero-tolerance policy was in place against those involved in food adulteration, adding that strict action would continue against elements endangering public health.

Citizens were urged to report complaints regarding adulterated or substandard food, including milk, to the PFA helpline 1223 for prompt action.

Health experts warned that consumption of adulterated milk could pose serious risks, including stomach, liver and other diseases, underscoring the importance of such enforcement measures.
