PFA cracks down on unsafe food,discards 6.82kg of expired items

GUJRAT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th Apr, 2026) The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) continued district-wide operations on Monday to ensure the availability of safe and hygienic food for the public, officials said.

On the directions of Deputy Director(DD) Rizwan Saeed,authorities carried out 173 inspections,issuing 51 improvement notices to food outlets that violated safety standards.

Fines were imposed at 12 locations,totaling Rs.167,000,while 6.82 kilograms of expired food items were confiscated and discarded.

In addition,13 food samples were collected for laboratory analysis as part of ongoing quality checks.

Rizwan Saeed directed officials to intensify inspections and maintain strict action against violators, stressing the importance of providing hygienic food to citizens.
