RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Apr, 2026) The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Rawalpindi on Tuesday seized and destroyed more than 10,000 kilograms of expired imported food products after conducting a raid on a private residence in the city.
A PFA spokesperson said the action was carried out on a tip-off regarding the storage of hazardous food items at a house in a private housing society. During the raid, officials recovered a large quantity of expired goods belonging to imported brands, including chocolates, toffees, chips and flavoured syrups.
He said the items were not only unfit for consumption but their expiry dates had allegedly been tampered with to enable their resale in local markets.
Initial investigations suggested the products were intended for distribution across Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
“All recovered goods were destroyed at a designated dumping site to prevent any risk to public health,” the spokesperson said, adding that a case had been registered against those involved on charges of altering expiry dates and endangering consumer safety.
The authority urged citizens to check expiry dates before purchasing food items and to report violations through the PFA helpline 1223. It added that indiscriminate actions would continue against those compromising food safety standards.
