LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Apr, 2026) The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has discarded 1,300 kilograms of dead chickens and lodged two FIRs against suspects involved in food forgery during ongoing operations against the adulteration mafia.

According to a spokesperson, enforcement teams carried out multiple actions on the directions of Director General Muhammad Asim Javaid to ensure the provision of safe food, which is considered a fundamental right of every citizen.

During the operations, food safety teams also confiscated 1,920 liters of fake cold drinks, filling machines, a supplier vehicle, 780 bottles, and other related materials used in illegal production activities.

Officials recovered dead chickens from a supplier vehicle (No. SAC-4666) at Ghazi Phatak Bypass, which were reportedly being transported for supply in local markets. In a separate raid, a fake beverage manufacturing unit was uncovered in Wahga Town, where counterfeit labels, caps, raw materials, and finished products were seized.

The DG said the unit was illegally producing soft drinks of well-known brands using unfiltered water under highly unhygienic conditions, where heavy insect infestation was also observed. He added that the operators failed to produce essential sales records and documentation.

He further stated that the counterfeit mafia was misleading consumers by selling substandard products under the guise of famous brands, posing a serious threat to public health. He warned that there is no space in Punjab for elements endangering public health for financial gain.

The DG said that, on the directions of the Chief Minister Punjab, operations against food adulteration are being conducted round the clock to ensure safe and nutritious food for citizens.

He also urged the public to support the PFA in eliminating the adulteration mafia and report complaints through the helpline 1223.
