PFA discards 8maunds adulterated tea leaves

MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th May, 2026) The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) unearthed a large-scale fake tea manufacturing unit in Multan and seized huge quantity of adulterated material allegedly being used to prepare counterfeit tea leaves.

The operation was carried out on the directives of Director General Punjab Food Authority Syed Musa Raza as part of the authority’s ongoing campaign against food fraud and adulteration mafias across the province.

According to official sources, the raid was conducted by Food Safety teams under the supervision of Director Operations South Rameez Zafar at a house located near Abdullah Garden on Qasim Pur Canal. During the operation, officials discovered an illegal unit where fake tea leaves were allegedly being manufactured by mixing wood dust with artificial colors.

The raiding team recovered approximately eight maunds of adulterated tea leaves, five maunds of wood dust and 15 kilograms of artificial coloring material from the premises. Authorities also confiscated all counterfeit products and raw materials being used in the illegal production process.

Officials said the adulterated tea was intended to be supplied to markets in Multan and other cities.

PFA sealed the production unit and got registered an FIR against the accused, identified as Muhammad Sohail.

Speaking on the occasion, DG Food Authority Syed Musa Raza, said strict and indiscriminate action against elements involved in food fraud would continue.
