PFA seals 6 units, discards 84,000kg butter, 28,000kg pickles and murabba

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th May, 2026) The enforcement team of Punjab Food Authority (PFA), led by Director General PFA Syed Musa Raza, carried out a major crackdown on substandard food production in Khurdpur, Saggian, Jail Road, Sanda Road and Peer Ghazi Road. During the operation, seven food units were inspected and production of six units was sealed over serious violations of food safety laws.

Food safety teams discarded 84,000 kilograms of substandard butter, 28,000 kilograms of murabba and pickles, along with 2,600 kilograms of desi ghee. DG PFA said that substandard butter and desi ghee were being stored without proper tagging in a renowned unit.

Syed Musa Raza said that rotten carrots, radish and turnips were found stored in drums, while fruits and vegetables kept uncovered for preparation of pickles and murabba were heavily infested with fungus and insects.

He said that mandatory records, including medical and training certificates of employees, were not available. Water was found accumulated on production area floors and raw materials were placed directly on the ground in violation of hygiene standards.

He said that pickles and murabba were being stored uncovered against food safety regulations. He emphasized that, under the directions of the Chief Minister Punjab, the adulteration mafia will not be allowed to operate food businesses in the province.

DG PFA further stated that strict compliance with Punjab Food Authority laws is mandatory for all food business operators, warning that production, supply and sale of substandard food items is a serious crime.
