LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Apr, 2026) Enforcement teams of the Punjab Food Authority, on the directions of Director General PFA Syed Musa Raza, has carried out operations in Johar Town and Bakar Mandi, resulting in the sealing of a private mall’s banquet hall and a 'siri paye' processing unit. A total fine of Rs300,000 was also imposed over serious violations of food safety laws.

Food safety teams found that dirty and blood-contaminated water was being used for washing siri paye, in clear violation of regulations. The DG PFA said that plastic and hair were being burnt during the processing, while unhygienic conditions including contaminated floors, dirty tubs and poor sanitation arrangements were observed.

Syed Musa Raza said that mandatory records, along with medical and training certificates of food handlers, were not available. He said that despite repeated warnings and improvement notices in the past, the units failed to ensure compliance.

He said that cockroaches were found in the kitchen of the banquet hall, along with rusted freezers and mixing machinery, posing serious health risks.

He further stated that no food business will be allowed to operate in violation of PFA laws, stating that Punjab Food Authority remains committed to ensuring provision of safe and quality food across Punjab.
