PFA seals one restaurant, fines 13 outlets

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Apr, 2026) Enforcement teams of the Punjab Food Authority on the directions of Director General PFA Muhammad Asim Javaid, has carried out widespread operations against adulteration mafia across Lahore.

During the crackdown, raids were conducted on 13 renowned food chains, restaurants and fast food points, resulting in the closure of one fast food restaurant and imposition of fines worth Rs530,000 over violations of food safety laws.

PFA’s food safety teams also inspected 128,000 kilograms of meat at 47 suppliers and shops in Tollinton Market. During the inspections, 7,060 kilograms of dead and diseased chickens, over 40 kilograms of substandard oil and prohibited ingredients were discarded.

The DG PFA said that strict action was taken over non-compliance with PFA-issued SOPs, while substandard food items were recovered from restaurant kitchen areas and immediately discarded.

He said that the production of a restaurant was halted for using low-quality oil, while heavy fines were imposed for failing to comply with previous instructions.

He said that workers at several outlets were found without mandatory medical and training certificates. Poor hygiene conditions were observed, including open drains, broken floors, insect infestation and food preparation on rusty and unhygienic surfaces.

He said that continuous operations are underway against adulteration mafia on the directions of the Chief Minister Punjab, adding that there is no place for such elements in the province.
