LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd May, 2026) Punjab Food Authority (PFA) enforcement teams on Sunday seized 14,500 liters of substandard ghee and sealed a warehouse and factory in Chunian over the preparation and storage of unhygienic products intended for market supply.
The action was taken on the directives of PFA Director General(DG),Syed Musa Raza,according to officials.
He said the seized stock was found repacked in multiple misleading quantities,including around 9,000kg in 1-kg packs, 2,500kg in half-kg packs,1,800kg in 900-gram packs and 1,200kg in 225-gram packaging,all prepared for commercial distribution despite failing food safety standards.
The DG said the recovered ghee was being stored in unsafe and unhygienic conditions and was ready for supply in the open market posing serious public health risks.
He said the facility was immediately sealed to prevent further circulation of the product.
PFA DG Syed Musa Raza said food safety audits of international food chains,industrial units and known brands were underway across Punjab to ensure compliance with hygiene, quality and regulatory standards.
He added that strict enforcement of SOPs, quality checks and record verification was being ensured without exception.
Warning violators,he termed those involved in food safety breaches as “enemies of society and the state,” adding that eliminating substandard food production remained a top priority of the Punjab Food Authority
