LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 31st May, 2026) The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) sealed two production units in Sundar Industrial Estate for manufacturing and packaging substandard juice using counterfeit labels resembling popular market brands, here on Sunday.
According to a PFA spokesperson, the action was carried out on the directions of Director General Punjab Food Authority Syed Musa Raza during a crackdown against food adulteration and fraudulent manufacturing practices.
During the operation, food safety teams seized 40,000 litres of substandard juice and confiscated 12,000 cartons of chemically prepared juice packed with unauthorized labels and packaging. The DG PFA said the operators were using packaging colours and designs similar to those of well-known brands in an attempt to deceive consumers.
He said the units were shut down for misleading the public through fake packaging that closely resembled genuine products. The inspection team also found poor hygiene conditions, inadequate pest-control measures and violations of food safety regulations.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>DG Syed Musa Raza warned that the consumption of chemically prepared and low-quality juice could pose serious health risks to both children and adults. He added that the entire stock recovered from the units had been taken into custody.
The DG said food products were being prepared directly on the floor in violation of prescribed manufacturing standards and food safety laws. “There is no place in Punjab for those who engage in fraudulent business practices in the name of food,” he asserted. He said that the Punjab Food Authority would continue strict enforcement actions to eliminate elements endangering public health across the province.
The DG advised consumers to carefully check product labels and packaging before making purchases and urged them to report food-related complaints through the PFA helpline 1223.
