PGMI principal condemns acid attack on lady doctor in Quetta

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th Jun, 2026) Postgraduate Medical Institute (PGMI), Principal Prof Dr. Farooq Afzal and faculty

members, expressing a profound grief and anger over the tragic acid attack on

a lady doctor at Civil Hospital Quetta, have describing the incident as extremely

regrettable and highly condemnable.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Prof. Dr. Farooq Afzal strongly condemned the

barbaric and inhuman act, saying the heart-wrenching incident had deeply shocked

the entire medical community across the country.

He said doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff work tirelessly day and night, often

risking their own lives to save patients and provide quality healthcare services.

Under such circumstances, he added, ensuring a safe and peaceful working environment

for healthcare professionals was the fundamental responsibility of the state.

Prof. Dr. Farooq Afzal stressed that effective legislation and foolproof security

measures, particularly for women doctors to safeguard medical personnel while

performing their duties.

Expressing complete solidarity with the affected doctor and her family, he said

the entire medical fraternity stands united with them and would continue to raise

its voice until justice was served.

The PGMI principal also prayed for the victim’s speedy and complete recovery,

protection from the long-term effects of the attack, and strength and patience for

her family during this difficult time.
