LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Apr, 2026) Parks and Horticulture Agency (PHA) and Beaconhouse school System will launch
a tree plantation drive from April 13 (Monday) under which thousands of saplings
will be planted at different PHA sites in the city.
Under the plantation drive students from Beaconhouse Defence (BDC), Walton and
Ring Road campuses will participate in the activity under the guidance of Director
PHA Abdullah Nisar Cheema.
Boys and girls from BDC will plant saplings at the PHA Ring Road Site in the Allama
Iqbal International Airport area while the Ring Road campus students will perform
the environmental activity at the Nawaz Sarif Interchange Ring Road.
“The plantation drive is part of the curriculum in which students are encouraged
to take part in social work besides creating awareness on the environmental
challenges faced by Pakistan,” Headmistress BDC Qurat ul Ain Shahid told APP
here on Sunday.
DG PHA Mansoor Ahmed has welcomed the initiative of the Beaconhouse, remarking
that it is good omen that the educational institutions are mobilizing students on the
challenges of the climate change. He said a richer green cover for Lahore is the
ideal for the PHA.
The DG PHA said that the PHA will extend all possible support to such activities
as per vision of the Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif who wants to make
Punjab smog free.
