PhD student shot dead inside masjid in Lower Dir

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st Jun, 2026) A PhD student was shot dead inside the masjid in Kundao area of Tehsil Khal in Lower Dir, local police said on Monday.

Police said Ibrahim Khan, a doctoral student was studying inside the mosque the other day when unidentified assailants opened fire him, killing him on the scene.

The motive behind the killing has not yet been determined. Authorities have registered a case and launched an investigation to identify and apprehend those responsible.

Ibrahim Khan was pursuing his PhD studies in England and had recently returned to Pakistan to celebrate Eid with his family.

Police officials stated that further details will be released as the investigation progresses.
