LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Apr, 2026) Philanthropists have donated medicines worth Rs 5 million for patients of the Outdoor Department (OPD) at Lahore General Hospital (LGH), providing significant relief to underprivileged individuals seeking treatment.
Principal Ameer-ud-Din Medical College, Prof Dr Muhammad Farooq Afzal, stated that serving ailing humanity is the noblest virtue, adding that those who help ease the suffering of the distressed achieve success in both worlds. He expressed these views while addressing a ceremony held in connection with the donation on Saturday. He appreciated the spirit of generosity demonstrated by affluent members of society, noting that such contributions offer hope to needy patients and strengthen the healthcare system.
Medical Superintendent LGH, Prof Dr Faryad Hussain, also paid tribute to the donors, emphasizing that collective efforts are essential to address the challenges faced by the health sector.
He remarked that these donations not only provide immediate relief to deserving patients but also improve the efficiency of hospital services.
Prof Farooq Afzal directed the hospital administration to maintain a proper record of the donated medicines and ensure complete transparency in their distribution. He stressed that every single tablet is a trust and must reach only deserving patients, warning that no negligence would be tolerated in this regard.
The ceremony was attended by administrative doctors, the Chief Pharmacist, Social Welfare Officers, Nursing Superintendent and other health professionals. Participants praised the humanitarian gesture and reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring that such donations are utilized effectively to provide maximum facilities to patients.
