PHMA hails extension in export facilitation scheme

FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th May, 2026) The utilization period for imported goods under the Export Facilitation Scheme (EFS) has been extended from nine months to 18 months under a newly issued Statutory Regulatory Order (SRO),officials said on Wednesday.

Chief Collector Customs Appraisement Punjab Naveed Elahi, while addressing an awareness session at the Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PHMA),said the SRO had been implemented with effect from March 19. He added that importers who had already availed the scheme would automatically benefit from the revised time frame.

He further stated that adjustments of imported goods against exports under the scheme would now be carried out on a real-time basis.

However,any extension beyond 18 months would require prior approval from the Federal board of Revenue (FBR).

Collector Customs Appraisement Faisalabad Dr.Rizwan Basharat said exporters in Faisalabad were being provided the same facilities at the local dry port as available in Karachi,urging them to fully benefit from the scheme.

He also informed participants that the installation of surveillance cameras at Faisalabad Customs House had been completed to address security-related concerns.

Earlier,Senior Vice Chairman PHMA (NZ) Ahmed Afzal Awan welcomed the officials, stating that the purpose of the session was to brief members on the Export Facilitation Scheme and recent amendments to the SRO,enabling exporters to better utilize the available incentives.

Later,commemorative shields were presented to the visiting customs officials by PHMA representatives.
