PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Feb, 2026) Peshawar Institute of Cardiology (PIC) is introducing advanced emergency treatment services for stroke patients, marking a major development in specialized healthcare services.
The initiative is being launched with government of Khyber Pakhtunwa support and dedicated funding to strengthen emergency stroke care and improve patient outcomes.
Through this facility, stroke patients will be treated using a specialized life-saving procedures that must be administered within 3 to 4 hours of the onset of symptoms, said PIC spokesperson.
Timely treatment can significantly reduce the risk of death and may help reverse paralysis and other serious complications associated with stroke.
Prof. Dr. Shahkar Ahmed Shah Dean and CEO of PIC said, “The introduction of advanced stroke treatment at PIC is a major step forward in providing timely and effective emergency care. Early intervention plays a crucial role in saving lives and reducing long-term disability in stroke patients.”
Medical Director Dr. Ali Raza stated, “This initiative reflects our commitment to expanding specialized healthcare services at PIC. With the availability of this treatment, patients suffering from acute stroke will have access to immediate and life-saving care, which can significantly improve recovery outcomes.”
