RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Mar, 2026) The Additional District and Sessions Court on Thursday indicted eight accused, including alleged jirga head, in the high-profile killing of a newly married woman in Pirwadhai, marking a key development in the case.

According to the details of the court of the Additional District and Sessions Judge Farhat Jabeen Rana, formally framed charges against the accused, who pleaded not guilty and opted to contest the case. The court subsequently adjourned the proceedings till April 6 and directed that the trial be conducted on a daily basis to ensure expeditious dispensation of justice.

The case relates to the murder of 19-year-old Sidra, who was allegedly killed on the orders of a jirga convened under the leadership of the main accused. The victim was reportedly strangled during the night between July 16 and 17 last year and her body was later secretly buried in a graveyard in an attempt to destroy evidence. Moreover, the grave markings were also abolished later on to completely hide the incident.

The case initially surfaced as a missing incident when a complaint was lodged suggesting that the woman had fled her home. However, subsequent investigation by Pirwadhai police led to the inclusion of serious charges under sections 302, 311, 201 and 109 of the PPC, after evidence pointed towards a planned killing.

Police had nominated several individuals in the case, including her father, brother, husband and in-laws along with other facilitators allegedly involved in concealing the crime.

During the Thursday hearing, the court also granted post-arrest bail to two remaining accused, identified as the victim’s father-in-law and uncle-in-law, against surety bonds of Rs. 2.0 million each. Earlier, bail had already been granted to other co-accused.

The prosecution maintained that the accused acted collectively under the jirga’s decision, leading to the killing and secret burial of the victim in an attempt to avoid legal consequences.
