Plan pre,pared to run 1000 non-AC buses for free travel facility

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Apr, 2026) A major plan for free travel facility has been prepared in Punjab to provide immediate relief to people.

Acco,rding to official sources, the government is preparing to run a free transport service by renting buses,

which aims to meet the shortage of public transport.

A plan has been prepared to run one thousand non-AC buses in the initial phase, which will provide convenience

to people across Punjab.

The cost of a bus per kilometer is coming up to Rs 309.47 which includes all expenses, including fuel, staff salaries, repairs and toll tax. The daily cost of a single bus is over Rs 61,894, while the daily cost of 1,000 buses can reach Rs 61.8 million. The monthly cost of the project is estimated to be around Rs 1.85 billion.

According to sources, the financial aspects of the project are being reviewed before final approval

and implementation.
