FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Apr, 2026) Director General (DG) Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) Muhammad Asif Chaudhary said that “Plantation for Generation” campaign is being actively implemented to promote a greener Faisalabad on sustainable grounds.
For this purpose, all segments of society especially the youth are being mobilized to plant 100,000 large-sized saplings across the city, he added.
Addressing an awareness seminar at Government Islamia Graduate College on Sargodha Road, he elaborated on the vision of Divisional Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar for “Plantation for Generation” campaign and said that this tree plantation drive would help pass on a green environment to future generations on strong and sustainable foundations.
He emphasized the crucial role of youth and urged them to plant large-sized saplings and take full responsibility for their care and growth.
He said that in islam, planting trees is considered a continuous charity (Sadaqah Jariyah) while science regards trees as natural machines that produce oxygen, underscoring their vital role in human survival.
He said that educational institutions provide a safe environment for plantation within their premises, encouraging students to actively participate in tree planting.
He informed that under FDA initiatives, 20,000 saplings are being planted within the boundaries of various housing schemes across the city and the campaign is progressing vigorously.
Speaking on the occasion, Managing Director (MD) Parks & Horticulture Agency (PHA) Dilawar Khan Chadhar highlighted the importance of trees for a healthy environment and warned that failure to increase forest cover in line with global standards could pose serious threats to human survival.
He stressed the need to intensify efforts to ensure a healthy life for future generations.
Director Colleges Professor Bushra Parveen shared steps being taken with renewed commitment to promote plantation and said that colleges across the division would fulfill the mission of growing large-sized plants.
Other officers and faculty members also addressed the seminar and encouraged students to plant more trees.
College Principal Professor Dr. Ateeq Amjad presented a vote of thanks and appreciated the vision of Divisional Commissioner Faisalabad Raja Jahangir Anwar for launching “Plantation for Generation” campaign.
Later, Director General FDA Muhammad Asif Chaudhary and other officials planted large-sized saplings in the college premises and offered prayers for their survival and prosperity of the country.
Additional Commissioner Consolidation Afzal Hayat Tarar, Deputy Director Colleges Dr. Habib ur Rehman and others were also present in the seminar in addition to a large number of students.
