Plantation protection, water resources, clean energy promotion top priorities of govt: Adviser

QUETTA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Apr, 2026) Adviser to Chief Minister on Environment and Climate Change Naseem-ur-Rehman Khan Mulakhel on Monday said that protection of plantation, water resources and promotion of clean energy were the top priorities of the government.

He said that Balochistan was under the serious impact of climate change, water scarcity and destruction of agricultural lands have become a major challenge, in view of this situation, the Balochistan government has initiated measures on an emergency basis.

He said that according to Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti: "Balochistan is an environmentally sensitive province, we have to take steps today to prevent future threats, Plantation, protection of water resources and promotion of clean energy are the top priorities of the government".

The Adviser said, "The effects of climate change are increasing day by day in Balochistan, we have planned to promote large-scale plantation, pollution control and environmental education across the province under the 'Green Balochistan' campaign".

Naseem-ur-Rehman Mulakhel added that the public, civil society and media were also being taken into confidence for environmental protection as the environment was not only the government's responsibility but the common responsibility of all.

He said that we were establishing environmental committees at the district level so that problems could be identified and resolved at the local level, adding, the Government of Balochistan was of the view that Balochistan should be given a fair share in climate financing at the Federal level so that the province could effectively meet this challenge.
