ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th Apr, 2026) Prime Minister, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday briefed the Federal cabinet on Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts aimed at securing a ceasefire amid tensions in the Gulf region and called on the nation to offer special prayers for lasting peace and the country’s continued progress and prosperity.

Chairing a meeting of the federal cabinet here, the prime minister apprised members of the government’s ongoing initiatives to help reduce tensions and promote a ceasefire in the region. The cabinet welcomed his efforts and appreciated Pakistan’s proactive diplomatic engagement at a critical time.

The cabinet members paid tribute to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, and Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal, Asim Munir for their coordinated efforts to help secure a ceasefire and promote peace in the region, noting that their leadership had enhanced Pakistan’s standing internationally.

During the meeting, the prime minister and the cabinet jointly appealed to the nation to observe a day of gratitude on Friday by offering special prayers for the positive outcomes of Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts, and to seek divine support for transforming the ceasefire into durable peace as well as for the country’s development and prosperity.

The cabinet also reaffirmed its resolve to continue working with renewed commitment for economic progress, terming the global recognition of Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach as historic and encouraging. The cabinet members observed that Pakistan’s sincere efforts had contributed significantly to steering the region toward stability at a time of heightened tensions and uncertainty.

Earlier, upon the prime minister’s arrival at the cabinet meeting, participants warmly welcomed him and expressed appreciation for the government’s role in advancing peace initiatives at the regional level.
