ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Jul, 2026) Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday departed here for Iran on a one-day visit to attend the funeral of the late Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
The prime minister is accompanied by Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Secretary General of PPP Nayyar Hussain Bukhari, and Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah.
During his visit to Tehran, Prime Minister Shehbaz will participate in the last rites of the late Iranian Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
On behalf of the people and the Government of Pakistan, he will express heartfelt condolences to the Iranian leadership and the bereaved families, and reiterate Pakistan's complete solidarity with the brotherly Iranian nation in this hour of grief.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Later, Prime Minister Shehbaz will depart from Tehran for Istanbul on a bilateral visit to Türkiye, at the invitation of the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, where he would hold discussions on the entire gamut of bilateral relations with a special focus on giving impetus to bilateral trade and investment cooperation between the two brotherly countries.
During his stay in Istanbul, he will also address a business conference being hosted by Pakistan to spotlight Pakistan’s trade and investment potential in priority areas, including the SEZs, energy, trade, IT, and privatisation sectors.
