PM Shehbaz reviews progress on low-cost housing, reaffirms priority for affordable homeownership

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Apr, 2026) Prime Minister, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday reiterated the government’s commitment to providing affordable housing, as he reviewed progress on low-cost housing initiatives during a meeting with Federal Minister for Housing, Riaz Hussain Pirzada.

During the meeting, the housing minister briefed the prime minister on ongoing efforts by the ministry to advance low-cost residential projects and expand access to subsidized loans aimed at enabling citizens to own homes, a Prime Minister's Office news release said.

The briefing also covered measures designed to facilitate affordable financing options for low- and middle-income segments.

The prime minister emphasized that ensuring access to affordable housing remains among the government’s foremost priorities, noting that providing citizens with a roof over their heads at a reasonable cost is central to its socio-economic agenda.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed satisfaction over the ministry’s progress, and appreciated the steps taken so far and encouraged further acceleration of initiatives to meet growing housing demands across the country.
