KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a warning about an intense heatwave expected across different parts of the country from today until May 11.
According to the weather department, temperatures in several cities of Sindh and Balochistan, including Dadu, Shaheed Benazirabad, Ghotki, Khairpur, Jacobabad, Larkana, Sukkur, Sibi, Turbat, and Panjgur, may rise between 46°C and 50°C.
The department further stated that areas of South Punjab, including Multan and Dera Ghazi Khan, as well as Dera Ismail Khan, could experience temperatures ranging from 43°C to 47°C.
In Upper Punjab and nearby regions, including Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Sialkot, temperatures are expected to range from 39°C to 43°C.
Meanwhile, Karachi is likely to record maximum temperatures between 35°C and 38°C.
Weather experts have advised citizens to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during peak sunlight hours and drink plenty of water to stay protected from the extreme heat.
