RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Jul, 2026) Pakistan Muslim League (N) MNA Anjum Aqeel Khan on Friday said that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had consistently highlighted the Kashmir issue at the United Nations and other international forums during his tenure, while supporting the Kashmiri people's right to self-determination.
Addressing an election gathering in Rawalpindi, Anjum Aqeel Khan expressed confidence that the PML-N would secure victory in all three seats reserved for refugees from Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) in the AJK Legislative Assembly.
He said Pakistan had strengthened its defence capabilities under Nawaz Sharif's leadership and added that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir had enhanced the country's international standing through effective diplomacy.
He urged party workers to intensify the election campaign and appealed to voters to support PML-N candidates in the August 2 polls.
Speaking on the occasion, PML-N Senator Nasir Butt said Rawalpindi has traditionally been a stronghold of the PML-N and predicted a decisive victory in all three refugee seats.
He said the PML-N believed in public service and development-oriented politics.
He also announced that regular open public forums (khuli katcheris) would be held at Haji House to address citizens' concerns.

She said Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, during a recent public gathering in Mirpur, had announced several development initiatives for AJK, including a modern electric bus service, scholarships and laptops for students, as well as projects aimed at improving healthcare and infrastructure.
She said the development and prosperity of the people of Kashmir remained the party's foremost priority.
PML-N candidate for the AJK Legislative Assembly Raja Muhammad Siddique said the party believed in practical measures for safeguarding the rights and promoting the development of the Kashmiri people.
He said Nawaz Sharif had consistently raised the Kashmir issue at both national and international forums and reaffirmed that the party would continue to support the Kashmiri people's right to self-determination. He also urged voters to elect PML-N candidates in the August 2 elections.
Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Chaudhry Naeem Ijaz, Malik Mansoor Afsar, Sajjad Khan and other party leaders also addressed on the occassion.
