QUETTA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 31st May, 2026) Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders in Balochistan commemorated Youm-e-Takbeer, describing May 28, 1998, as a day Pakistan conducted successful nuclear tests in Chagai, becoming the world’s seventh nuclear power and the first in the Muslim world.

Speaking at a ceremony at the Quetta Press Club, Jamal Shah Kakar (General Secretary PML-N Balochistan and MNA), MNA Akhtar Bibi, MPA Hadia Nawaz Behrani, Adviser to CM Naseem-ur-Rehman Malakhail, PM’s Coordinator Haider Khan Achakzai, former Deputy Mayor Quetta Mir Younus Baloch, Nisar Khan Achakzai, Fatima Kakar, Shakir Muhammad Hasni, and other leaders recalled the significance of the day.

They said Youm-e-Takbeer symbolizes Pakistan’s survival, sovereignty, and national dignity, noting that India’s nuclear tests had disturbed the balance of power in South Asia and posed a direct challenge to Pakistan’s security. Despite global pressure and the threat of sanctions, Pakistan prioritized its sovereignty and national defense, successfully carrying out nuclear tests under the leadership of Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

Speakers emphasized that the nuclear capability not only ensured national security but also thwarted the designs of adversaries.

“Youm-e-Takbeer reminds us that when the nation stands united for its rights and security, no force can bend it,” they said, adding that the day is also a renewal of resolve to remain vigilant in safeguarding independence and sovereignty.

They highlighted that celebrating Youm-e-Takbeer is a national responsibility, as it recalls the sacrifices, courage, and determination that built Pakistan’s strong defense system. The leaders praised the armed forces, law enforcement agencies, and security forces for their sacrifices in defeating terrorism, noting that the nation stands shoulder to shoulder with its defenders.

Referring to recent events, speakers said Pakistan remains a peaceful nuclear state that seeks better relations with neighbors. However, they pointed out that when India committed aggression, the Pakistan Army responded decisively through Operation “Bunyan al-Marsus”, inflicting heavy losses and proving its capability to defend the nation’s borders.

The leaders reaffirmed that PML-N continues to be an active, people-oriented party in Balochistan, raising its voice for workers’ rights and public issues at every forum. They stressed that party workers are the real strength of the organization and their sacrifices will always be honored.
