PML-N praises Pakistan role in Iran–US/Israel ceasefire

SARGODHA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th Apr, 2026) Makhdoom Shah Kameer Qureshi, a local leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N), on Wednesday welcomed the two-week ceasefire, announced by Donald Trump amid tensions involving Iran, the United States, and Israel.

He termed the move a positive step toward regional stability and global peace, while appreciating Pakistan’s role in facilitating the agreement.

Speaking to APP, Qureshi credited both Pakistan’s armed forces and civilian leadership for their coordinated efforts in supporting the ceasefire, noting the country’s strong understanding of regional dynamics and global strategic affairs.

He expressed hope that the truce would help restore normality, stressing that war leads to widespread crises.

Highlighting economic concerns, he said conflicts in the middle East often drive up global oil prices, which in turn increase inflation in Pakistan and raise the cost of essential goods.

Qureshi also noted that while wars have long-lasting negative impacts, Pakistan has previously strengthened its global standing during regional conflicts. He described Pakistan’s diplomatic role in the current ceasefire as commendable and hoped the temporary truce would evolve into lasting peace.

He also praised the leadership of Shehbaz Sharif and Syed Asim Munir for their efforts in easing tensions among the involved countries.
