ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jun, 2026) The Prime Minister’s Youth Skills Development Programme (PMYSDP) has emerged as a major engine of workforce development, delivering more than 90,000 skill based trainings across Pakistan during FY2026, with nearly 48,000 young Pakistanis expected to secure employment.
According to the Pakistan Economic Survey 2025-26 a total of 90,550 trainings were conducted nationwide, including 54,573 information technology trainings, 24,117 conventional vocational trainings and 11,860 industrial skills trainings.
Based on tracer studies and historical employment trends, approximately 47,875 trainees are projected to successfully transition into the job market.
According to the survey, the programme is playing a critical role in addressing skills gaps by aligning youth training with evolving industry requirements and emerging economic sectors.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>The strong focus on IT and digital skills is also helping prepare young Pakistanis for opportunities in the global digital economy, freelancing sector and technology-driven industries.
The report notes that the initiative is particularly strengthening youth employability by equipping participants with market-relevant skills demanded by employers, while simultaneously supporting self-employment and entrepreneurship pathways.
The Economic Survey describes the PMYP skills initiative as a cornerstone of the government’s broader youth empowerment agenda, aimed at creating a skilled workforce, boosting productivity and supporting sustainable economic growth through human capital development.
