FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Apr, 2026) The police have carried out extensive operations against criminal elements during the ongoing year 2026 and arrested 155 dangerous gangs and 407 criminals involved in various crimes in Faisalabad region.

Police spokesman said here on Friday that the crackdown was launched to curb rising crime and ensure public safety across the region. He said that during these operations, 1,327 cases were successfully disposed of while stolen valuables including motorcycles, gold ornaments, mobile phones, livestock and cash exceeding Rs116.2 million were recovered from the possession of accused.

In a parallel drive against narcotics, the police registered 2,549 cases and arrested 2,568 drug peddlers. The recovered narcotics included over 1,022.165 kilograms (kg) hashish, 55.41 kg ice (crystal meth), 33,772 liters liquor, 8 kg opium and 287.23 kg heroin.

Similarly, strict action was taken against illegal weapons and the police recovered 970 pistols, 18 revolvers, 58 guns, 12 Kalashnikovs, 65 rifles and 3,098 rounds of ammunition during the ongoing campaign.

He said that enforcement of kite-flying ban also remained a priority, with 407 cases registered and 437 accused arrested. The police seized 45,316 kites and 1,167 string rolls.

He said that the police also intensified efforts to apprehend proclaimed offenders and court absconders. During this period, 104 accused involved in murder cases and 131 in attempted murder cases were arrested. Similarly, 894 Category-A and 2,071 Category-B proclaimed offenders along with 961 Category-A and 2,193 Category-B court absconders were taken into custody.

Highlighting public service initiatives, he said that under the open-door policy, daily khuli kacheris were arranged and 1,787 online complaints helped resolve issues of more than 5,135 citizens.

He said that more than 186,531 citizens were facilitated through 15 police service centers and 20 service counters established across the region.

He said that more than 10,945 complaints received at four Tahaffuz centers and six Meesaq centers were addressed while over 173 show-cause notices and departmental appeals were decided through orderly room proceedings.

In a significant step for police welfare, Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed with several leading educational institutions including Superior University and Riphah International College, etc. Under these agreements, the children of police martyrs would receive 100 percent fee concessions while children of injured (Ghazi) police personnel as well as serving and retired officers would benefit from 75 percent and 50 percent fee reductions, he added.

He said that a MoU was also signed with Dia Scient Medical Complex, offering 100 percent medical concessions to the families of police martyrs, 70 percent to the families of Ghazi officers and 50 percent to the families of serving and retired police personnel.

Meanwhile, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sohail Akhtar Sukhera directed all district police officers to adopt effective and practical strategies to eliminate street crimes particularly robbery, dacoity and house burglary.

He stressed the need to tighten the noose around criminal gangs and ensure their arrest through decisive action. He further ordered continuation of the crackdown against drug dealers, gambling dens and brothels while emphasizing that arrests in serious cases must be ensured to maintain law and order across the Faisalabad region.
