Police arrest 6,500 under Anti-Kite Flying Act

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Mar, 2026) Punjab Police have arrested over 6,500 suspects and recovered 430,875 kites and 11,143 string reels across the province during an intensified crackdown on kite flying under the Anti-Kite Flying Act.

A spokesperson of Punjab Police said, in Lahore alone, 2,490 accused were arrested, 2,363 cases registered, and 107,544 kites along with 3,328 string reels were seized.

Inspector General of Police Punjab, Abdul Kareem, while issuing strict directives, emphasised that kite flying would not be tolerated anywhere in the province and that action must be taken without discrimination.

He also directed authorities to take action against individuals involved in the online sale of metallic strings and kites.

The IGP Punjab appealed to parents to keep children away from the deadly activity and monitor their movements. Citizens were urged to report any instance of kite flying immediately by calling helpline 15 to support responsible citizenship.
