MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Apr, 2026) Multan police arrested a suspect in what was initially reported as kidnapping but later turned out to be a murder case after police minutely checked CDRs of relatives and dug out the deceased's body, police said.

CPO Multan Sadiq Ali Dogar told a news conference here Wednesday that a man Muhammad Rashid, a resident of Nawabpur, was reported kidnapped in Dec 2025 and a case was registered with DHA police station under Section 365 PPC.

During investigations conducted by SHO Sajid Ashraf along with others and IT team, Call Data Records (CDRs) of relatives were checked minutely, digital evidence was collected and interviews of close relatives recorded. This led police to suspect Usman, son of Akbar, who was taken into custody and he confessed that he had shot dead Rashid the day he was reported kidnapped and buried his body in his cattle pen.

Police said, the CDR showed that the suspect had relations with deceased's wife and added that when Rashid came to know about it, he had visited Usman's house on Dec 11 last year. Usman had, somehow, took Rashid to his cattle pen where he killed him and buried the body there.

He then went into hiding and spread the rumour that he had embarked on a long duration trip to Malaysia.

The accused led police to the burial site from where the victim’s body was recovered.

CPO commended the investigators for resolving the complex blind murder case and the seniors who supervised the process including SSP Operations Haider Ali, SSP Investigations Muhammad Tahir, SP Gulgasht Saifullah Gujjar, and DSP Khalid Javed.
