Police arrest man for making fake robbery call

SARGODHA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Apr, 2026) Mela Police on Tuesday arrested a man for allegedly misleading the department by making a

fake robbery call to the emergency helpline 15 to protect his wanted son from arrest.

According to a press release issued by DPO office, the accused, identified as Ajmeer, contacted the "Pukar 15" helpline claiming that a robbery had occurred at his residence, during which unidentified assailants snatched Rs 50,000 in cash and a gold ring.

Upon receiving the information, a police team from Mela Police Station rushed to the scene and initiated an investigation.

During the probe, it was revealed that the suspect's son, Asad Ajmeer, was wanted by the police in various criminal cases.

The father had staged the robbery drama to divert the police's attention and facilitate his son's escape from potential arrest.

The police registered a case against the suspect for providing false information.
