Police arrest suspect after encounter in Uch,two escape

BAHAWALPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th May, 2026) A police encounter in the jurisdiction of Uch Police Station led to the arrest of an injured suspect,while two of his accomplices managed to escape on Friday,police said.

According to a spokesperson for Bahawalpur police, the incident occurred during a routine snap-checking operation at Kaks Mor,where a police party had set up a temporary checkpoint.

Police said three suspects arrived on a motorcycle and upon seeing the checkpoint,opened fire and attempted to flee by breaking through the barricade.

During the ensuing chase, the suspects reportedly lost control of their motorcycle at high speed and crashed into a roadside tree.

Taking advantage of darkness and nearby crops, two suspects managed to escape, while one injured suspect was arrested from the scene.

The arrested suspect,identified as Tariq was wanted by police in multiple robbery and theft cases,the spokesperson added.

Police further said a motorcycle and illegal weapons were recovered from his possession,allegedly used in criminal activities.

Raids were underway to arrest the fleeing suspects while further investigation was in progress.
