Police arrested 98 suspects, lodged 75 FIRs in 18 hours

HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Apr, 2026) As part of the recently launched crackdown against drug peddlers and sellers of mainpuri and gutka, the Hyderabad police have claimed arrest of 98 suspects and registration of 75 FIRs in a short span of only 18 hours.The police spokesman Inspector Shahid Usman informed here on Saturday that 25 drug peddlers were rounded up in the limits of different police stations and they were booked in 18 FIRs.He claimed recovery of 3.1 kilograms of hashish, 35 grams of crystal ice, 550 liters of moonshine liquor and 220 small bottles and 5 large bottles of liquour from their possession.

Usman apprised that 57 suspects involved in the illicit trade of mainpuri and gutka were apprehended and nominated in 51 FIRs during the crackdown.He cited recovery of 14,229 sachets of mainpuri and 4,140 of gutka in addition to 129 bags of raw materials.The spokesman said 4 suspects were apprehended for possessing unlicensed weapons and 12 for their betting activities.
