Police bust 11 robbery gangs, recover stolen valuables of Rs 9.2m in May

FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Jun, 2026) The police have busted 11 robbery gangs during May 2026 and arrested 27 accused involved in a series of criminal activities besides recovering stolen property worth more than Rs9.259 million and tracing 123 cases of robbery, theft and other crimes.

Police spokesman Tariq Jutt said here on Tuesday that district police intensified operations against organized robbery gangs throughout the month and achieved significant success in curbing street crime and property-related offences.

He said that police teams conducted targeted raids and intelligence-based operations, leading to the arrest of 27 members of 11 robbery gangs allegedly involved in various incidents of robbery, theft and other criminal activities across the district.

During operations, the police recovered stolen goods valued at over Rs9.259 million from the possession of the accused.

The recovered items included 18 motorcycles, a rickshaw, mobile phones, cash, gold ornaments, other valuables and weapons allegedly used in criminal activities.

The spokesman said that the arrests enabled investigators to trace 123 criminal cases, providing relief to a large number of citizens who had fallen victim to robberies and thefts.

He attributed the success to the effective use of modern technology, CCTV footage analysis, intelligence-based operations and professional investigation techniques, which helped police identify, track and apprehend members of the gangs.

Police have initiated legal proceedings against the arrested suspects under the relevant provisions of law while further investigations are underway to determine their involvement in additional crimes and identify any remaining accomplices, he added.
