Police caution citizens against free SIM cards

SIALKOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th May, 2026) Police on Saturday warned citizens against obtaining free SIM cards from vendors,citing concerns over the possible misuse of personal data.

According to a police spokesperson,complaints have been received by different police sections regarding the alleged misuse of information provided by individuals while acquiring free SIM cards from unauthorized sellers.

In light of the complaints,police issued an advisory urging the public not to obtain free SIM cards from vendors and to exercise caution while sharing personal information and identification documents.

The spokesperson advised citizens to acquire SIM cards only through authorized franchises and service centers to ensure the security of their personal data and avoid potential misuse.

Police said the advisory was aimed at raising awareness about data protection and preventing cyber-related fraud.
