Police crack down on illegal swimming at Tanda Dam, several youths held

KOHAT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 31st May, 2026) Kohat police on Sunday arrested several youths for violating Section 144 after they were found swimming in Tanda Dam despite a government-imposed ban on bathing and recreational activities at the reservoir and other hazardous water sites.

According to police officials, the action was carried out on the directives of District Police Officer (DPO) Shahbaz Elahi, who has instructed all Station House Officers (SHOs) across the district to ensure strict implementation of the ban and take prompt action against anyone found flouting the restrictions.

Acting on these directions, SHO MRS Police Station Abdul Rauf Bangash, accompanied by a police team, conducted a targeted operation at Tanda Dam.

During the raid, several individuals were caught swimming in the reservoir in clear violation of Section 144 and were subsequently taken into custody.

Police authorities emphasized that the restrictions have been imposed to protect public safety and prevent drowning incidents at dangerous water locations. They warned that strict legal action will continue against violators and urged citizens, particularly youngsters, to comply with the ban in the interest of their own safety.
