Police detain 51 in crackdown on renting law non-compliance

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Mar, 2026) Police have launched a comprehensive crackdown against violations of renting laws. During the past three days, police have registered 33 cases and detained 51 individuals for non-compliance with the law.

Police spokesperson told on Sunday that search operations were being conducted on a daily basis to ensure strict enforcement of the Tenancy Act. "Senior officers are also reviewing tenant registration reports on a regular basis to monitor compliance".

Authorities have reiterated that failure to register tenants is a punishable offense, urging all citizens to ensure the immediate registration of tenants and domestic or commercial employees through the relevant police station, Police Khidmat Markaz, or the Punjab Police mobile application.

Citizens have also been encouraged to report violations via official police social media channels or their nearest police station, with assurances that their identity will remain confidential.

In addition, Rawalpindi Police are obtaining verification certificates from Union Council officials, chairmen, councilors, and market association presidents across the city to strengthen oversight of rental properties.

Police emphasized that it is the responsibility of all citizens to comply with tenancy laws and ensure proper registration to avoid legal action.
