Police intensify crackdown on drug dealers, arrest 8 bootleggers

KHANEWAL, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th May, 2026) Khanewal Police have intensified operations on drug peddlers and liquor suppliers in line with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s vision of a “Drug-Free Punjab”.

According to police sources, a zero-tolerance policy against narcotics dealers is being implemented across the province on the directions of Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar.

Acting on the instructions of District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Abid, Khanewal Police launched a comprehensive crackdown against drug dealers and liquor suppliers across the district.

During operations conducted over the last 24 hours, police arrested eight alleged liquor sellers and recovered 368 litres of liquor from their possession.

DPO Muhammad Abid said the police were taking all possible measures to eliminate narcotics and illegal liquor from the district and ensure a safe environment for citizens.

He said drug dealers were a menace to society and no leniency would be shown to those involved in such illegal activities.

The DPO further urged citizens to cooperate with police in the collective effort to make Khanewal a drug-free district.
