Police lodge FIR of armed attack on Sunni Tehreek's leader

HYDERABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd May, 2026) The Hyderabad police have registered an FIR of the armed assault on the vice president of Sunni Tehreek (ST) Muhammad Khalid Qadri on May 1 in Hyderabad's Latifabad unit number 8 area.

The case was lodged under sections 324 and 34 of Pakistan Penal Code  (PPC) here on Saturday on the complaint of Muhammad Harris Khan, brother, who nominated 3 unknown persons.

According to him, he and his brother offered Zuhar prayer at Muhammadi mosque in Latifabad unit 8 on Friday after which he returned to his home but Qadri stayed at the mosque.

He stated that at around 2.45 pm some neighbours knocked at their door and informed them that some unknown attackers had fired gunshots on Qadri. 

He added that the injured ST leader was rushed to the Liaquat University Hospital in a private car.

The complainant said his injured brother, who sustained 5 bullet wounds on his left thigh, chest, left ear and chin, told him at the hospital that he could identify all the 3 assailants from their faces but that they were unknown to him.

Quoting his brother, he stated in the FIR that when Qadri walking towards his home with Tahir Ali and Shafique Ahmed Meyo, the attackers approached him on a motorbike and asked him his name. He added that the suspects left and parked their motorbike at the street's corner, waiting for Qadri to come closer.

They later fired multiple gunshots on the ST's leader and escaped.The police have so far shown no progress in the investigation even though an official, who requested anonymity, claimed that 2 suspects had been detained for interrogation in connection with the attack.
