Police on high alert to ensure security at churches across province

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Feb, 2026) On the directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Abdul Kareem, Punjab Police remained on high alert and performed security duties during Christian worship and prayer programmes in churches across the province, including Lahore.

Earlier, the IG Punjab had instructed all Regional Police Officers (RPOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs) to enhance security arrangements at churches. He directed supervisory officers to personally inspect security measures at churches and other important locations. Additional police force and snipers were deployed at sensitive churches, while teams of Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit (PRU), and Elite Force ensured effective patrolling in the surroundings.

The IG further directed that deployed officers and personnel remain vigilant and keep a strict watch on miscreant elements. He ordered that search and sweep operations continue around churches, Christian localities and other sensitive areas to avert any untoward incident.

Abdul Kareem also urged religious scholars, members of the Christian community and peace committees to play their role in promoting interfaith harmony and maintaining a peaceful atmosphere across the province.
