MIRPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Jun, 2026) Police investigating the alleged financial network of the banned Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (AAC) have arrested several individuals during an operation linked to the recent Rawalakot sit-in, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Khurram Iqbal said on Friday.
According to the police official, a man identified as Hamza allegedly used telephone communications to mobilize supporters in different areas, directing them to collect funds and send them to Rawalakot to support the protest. Police said one individual was arrested while allegedly transporting funds to the area, and information obtained during preliminary interrogation led investigators to several other suspects, who have also been taken into custody.
Preliminary investigations, according to the SSP, indicate that a portion of the funds allegedly received from overseas Kashmiris and other sources was retained for personal use, while the remaining amount was allegedly utilized to support the activities of the banned organization.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Investigators also claimed to have recovered an alleged chat exchange involving Hamza and members of his family, which, according to officials, suggested that the organization had deviated from its original public rights agenda and had come under the influence of nationalist elements.
Police said investigations are continuing, while the interrogation of the detained individuals remains underway. Authorities emphasized that the findings are based on preliminary investigations, and no final conclusions have been reached. The allegations remain under investigation and have yet to be tested before a court of law.
