MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st May, 2026) Police claimed to have successfully recovered an abducted married couple and arrested 13 suspects allegedly involved in the kidnapping and assault incident that took place outside the district courts.

Holding a press conference here on Thursday, City Police Officer (CPO) Sadiq Ali Dogar said that Mazhar Abbas, a resident of Chak 15 Faiz Basti Malook, had contracted a love marriage with Asma, a resident of Kapri Wala, in court with mutual consent. However, the bride’s family was reportedly unhappy with the marriage. Earlier, Asma’s father, Muhammad Fayyaz, had registered a kidnapping case against Mazhar Abbas at Basti Malook Police Station under Section 365-B on May 14, 2026.

Police said that on May 20, the couple had arrived at the district courts in Multan for the recording of statements under Section 164. When they reached near Raza Hall outside the court premises around 12:30 pm, armed suspects allegedly intercepted them, smashed the windows of their vehicle with sticks, dragged both husband and wife out of the car, assaulted them and forcibly abducted them.

Following the incident, Multan Police registered a case at Chehlyak Police Station under sections 365, 427, 148 and 149 on the complaint of the abducted man’s brother.

The CPO stated that a special police team headed by SSP Operations Haider Ali, SSP Investigation Muhammad Tahir, SP Cantt Division Kainat Azhar and ASP Cantt Halar Khan Chandio conducted a coordinated operation using scientific investigation methods, IT surveillance and local intelligence to trace the accused and recover the couple safely.

Police arrested 13 suspects allegedly involved in the abduction, including close relatives of the woman. The arrested suspects included Fayyaz, Muhammad Aslam, Muhammad Sajjad, Muhammad Akmal, Abdul Rehman, Muhammad Akram, Muhammad Ramzan, Dildar, Zulfiqar, Rana Imran alias Mashooq, Muhammad Ajmal, Abid Hussain and Gulshad Bibi.

He said the suspects were taken into custody after a successful raid conducted by Chehlek Police Station officials led by SHO Hanif Azhar.

He praised the police team for resolving what he described as a “complex and sensitive case” through professional investigation, modern technology and timely action. He said the successful recovery of the couple reflected the commitment of Multan Police to protecting citizens and ensuring the rule of law.
