Police review security arrangements for Easter, Good Friday

KHANEWAL, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Apr, 2026) District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Abid on Thursday held a meeting with senior police officials and representatives of the Christian community to review security arrangements for Good Friday and Easter.

Officials and church representatives discussed measures to ensure effective security for the upcoming religious occasions. Police also listened to issues faced by the Christian community for their prompt resolution.

The DPO said that protection of life and property of minorities and ensuring religious freedom, in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, were among the top priorities of Punjab Police.

He said providing complete security and a peaceful environment to the Christian community was the responsibility of the police, adding that all available resources were being utilized and a comprehensive security plan had already been devised for Good Friday and Easter.

He further said that security at churches and other places of worship across the district had been enhanced on the directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Rao Abdul Kareem.

Special measures had also been taken at Misaq Centres to address issues of the Christian community, while community policing was being promoted to maintain peace and harmony in the district.

Police personnel would be deployed around churches, while entry and exit points would be monitored through Safe City cameras to ensure strict vigilance.

Representatives of the Christian community appreciated the efforts of the police and expressed satisfaction over the security arrangements, assuring their full cooperation.
